Kia ora,
My name is Margie Donaldson I am working as a Social Worker at the Bream Bay Community
Support Trust.
I have lived in the Bream Bay area for many years with my family and appreciate and enjoy our
beautiful area and beaches. I love to go cycling and being creative in arts and craft projects.
My role is to provide support to individuals and their whanau who are currently experiencing or
have experienced the trauma of family harm.
We provide services and offer to the whole whanau and can help support with appropriate
interventions such as safety planning, support with police involvement and the application of
protection orders.
We can also provide appropriate interventions needed for further services for individuals and
their whanau such as counselling and other Therapeutic and health services if required.
I am a qualified and fully registered senior social work practitioner, committed to practice in a
professional and ethical manner.
FIELDS OF PRACTICE
I have had the opportunity and the privilege in my career as a social worker to be able to work in
many different fields which include; family and children support services and programs, family
harm, sexual abuse harm, mental health and addictions, and in the disability field.
My working experience has provided me with varied knowledge and increased my skill base as
a social work practitioner. It has enabled me to work professionally, effectively and respectfully
with people from many different ethnicities, cultural backgrounds and socio-economic
circumstances.
I have practiced social work in New Zealand and have been fortunate to be given the
opportunity to practice social work in the United Kingdom.
While working as a social worker, I endeavor to work holistically and sensitively and to offer
supportive interventions and advocacy for people and their whanau in the community. To be
able to offer practical and emotional assistance, understanding and support in a safe and
confidential environment for individuals and their whanau on their journey towards healing and
empowerment is a privilege to me.
