About Us

Heketia Ahomiro designed our logo when he was a 15-year-old student at Bream Bay College over 25 years ago.

The four waves represent the four winds – ko ngā hau e whā: people from all ethnic backgrounds, all walks of life here for a common purpose to make this community home. Manaia in the background represents all tribal affiliations through whakapapa to these lands and waters, taking on a leadership & guardian capacity forever and always.

The four winds represent the principles of the Bream Bay Community Support Trust – 1. Manaakitanga: of our Ruakākā community at all levels; 2. Whanaungatanga: – creating meaningful relationships with whānau within the community for the betterment of the Ruakākā community. 3. Rangatiratanga: – an organisation that is run by the Ruakākā community and families is of the utmost importance, for the community. Working collaboratively with the community at all levels; the final principal being Kaitiakitanga – to continue to maintain the relationship to the land, moana and throughout.

It were these four principles that created the true essence of what the community desired for the Trust – kotahitanga amongst all!

Testimonials

“I found the support from Martine to be an incredibly supportive and amazing lady, not just for myself but also my parents while they were alive, she helped  them with health referrals, mobility scooters, legal support, funeral advice, food support and a supportive listening ear when I called when struggling, she even helped my friends and neighbor! I would give her a 10 out of 10"

H.Samuels, Ruakākā
