Dr Kyle Eggleton
Board Chairperson

I have had the honour of serving as the Board Chairperson since 2020. My connection with the Trust began in 2013, when I established a free general practice clinic in collaboration with Ki A Ora Ngātiwai. From the beginning, my vision has been clear: to help create a place within our community where people in need feel supported, welcomed, and genuinely cared for.

Presence, unconditional kindness, empathy, relationship‑building, and strong community connections are values that guide my approach to leadership. My hope is that the Trust is experienced as a therapeutic, safe environment and recognised as an essential part of the Bream Bay community.

My own links to this area run deep. I am a descendant of the Nova Scotian migration to Waipu in the 1850s. Although I grew up in the Hokianga and completed my education in Auckland, Ruakākā has been home for my partner, our three children, and me since 2002.

I am a general practitioner, working part‑time at Waipu Medical Centre, and I also hold the role of Associate Dean of Rural Health at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland. My research interests focus on primary health care, inequities, and racism. Over the course of my career, I have served on multiple boards and committees, bringing extensive knowledge of the non‑government sector to my role as Chairperson.
